Ulsrudites United Forever

Juegos Olímpicos de Vancouver 2010. Un día haciendo zapping en televisión, siempre cuento esta historia con gran orgullo, me encontré a unos tipos muy singulares jugando a un deporte que me pareció aún más singular. Soy una persona curiosa así que decidir dejarlo puesto un rato e indagar que era. Era curling y estaba jugando Noruega, el equipo de Thomas Ulsrud, con sus famosos pantalones de cuadros. Me enamoré de deporte y equipo por igual y el resto es historia. Una historia que tiene momentos muy felices como el título mundial logrado en Beijing en 2014 y otros muy tristes como la eliminación en el tie breaker en los Juegos Olímpicos de Sochi 2014. 

Precisamente durante los Juegos Olímpicos de Sochi conocí a un grupo de amigos maravillosos con los que comentar las competiciones de curling y hoy en día nos seguimos encontrado todos en los chats de youtube o en nuestro grupo de Facebook. En verdad debería decir casi todos... mi amiga Pauline, mi mejor amiga ya no está entre nosotros. La echo mucho de menos aunque sé que donde esté sigue animando incansable a nuestro jugador favorito. 

Fue tal la alegría cuando Thomas decidió jugar 4 años más después de los JJOO de Sochi que decidimos crear un proyecto juntas: Un Tumblr llamado "Ulsrudites".  Pero Pauline falleció en 2016 y en ese momento no tuve fuerzas para seguir adelante con ello yo sola. 

Ahora que está a punto de empezar la temporada olímpica, esa temporada que iba a ser tan importante para nosotras, pese a que no es seguro que el equipo de Thomas Ulsrud llegue a ser el representante de Noruega en los Juegos, quiero retomar ese pequeño proyecto porque es el mejor homenaje que le puedo hacer a mi querida amiga. Should Team Ulsrud retire after the Olympics?

First off, much thanks to Sandra for letting me write on her blog. We met over twitter watching Team Ulsrud at the Vancouver Olympics. We've shared our love of our team ever since. And when I messaged her saying I had this piece that didn't fit on either my personal development blog or my baseball blog, she immediately offered to run it here. So, who am I to say if Team Ulsrud should retire? I’m just a passionate fan who has loved them for a long time, who respects the hell out of them, and who wants the best for them.
